MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), also known as "no holds barred" and "Vale Tudo," is the fastest-growing professional sport in the world. Since the Ultimate Fighting Championships was launched in 1993, martial arts has evolved through incredible changes over the last two decades. Although competitions incorporating stand-up fighting and ground fighting took place as early as 648 B.C. (as the sport of Pankration in the Olympic Games), it has only been relatively recently that martial arts styles from all over the world have been tested in the ring. Fighting techniques from various styles such as boxing, Karate, Kung Fu, freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Judo were proven effective or ineffective in octagons, cages, and rings. Techniques, as well as strength and conditioning training regimens, are constantly evolving to reach peak performance. To an uneducated spectator, MMA may look like a violent tapout or a hard knockout, but practitioners must learn the different phases of combat, as well as gain an understanding the different techniques used to gain a step-by-step advantage over the opponent. The intricacies of fighting in different ranges and spaces make this combat sport not only about athleticism, but most importantly about dynamic strategy.

Success in Mixed Martial Arts begins by having techniques that help you learn strking and defense while standing, how to control the direction of the fight goes with takedowns, and how to reverse, ground and pound, and submit your opponent on the ground. Even if you have already mastered a martial art, considering learning MMA – it is the future of martial arts and competition.
